@tigerdylanyoung Yes,I agree with you in essence, and I'm not a great fan of covers in general, but I do have a soft spot for this one. This one and Farewell Angelina are two of my favourite Dylan songs. The latter was,of course, also covered by Baez, but I much prefer the Dylan original - together with its "camouflaged parrot" extra verse! Bob Dylan was a huge influence on my writing right from the early 60's and it's a sign of his genius that all his songs still sound fantastic and are still hip.

I like it best when the "The Seldom Scene" - Bluegrass/Folk got a hold of it - youtube.com/watch?v=tQTgnPnp8I

@celiimar I don't care for it either. The only thing interesting about this song is that it may ahve been witten with Baez in mind.

@red1dev Dylan's version is the best. Sure someone could re-paint the Mona Lisa, but could it be better? This is one of Dylan's masterpieces, and Baez is paying tribute to it. But, they are Dylan's words and feelings. Only Dylan can express the true feelings behind the words. Joan Baez recognized Dylan's brilliant songwriting. She has a beautiful voice, but Dylan's songs are not necessarily meant to be sung with a beautiful voice. So many of his songs come from heartache and misery.
