This song makes me shudder. I feel as though my body opens up to the universe when I hear it. I can't help closing my eyes and and just letting it flow over me like an ethereal river. I can't decide how it makes me feel. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. It inspires me, that's for sure.

I just noticed that the number of syllables in each word of the title is the same as 'Stranger in Paradise'. Coincidence?

@tadashibashi I have played Polovtsian Dances by Borodin about 15 times with my orchestra, and as an oboe player so i feel rather stupid for not noticing this the 300 odd times i have heard both. Great discovery. love both peices.

I also agree that Maaya's chorus part is from Borodin's Polovetsian Dance. That being said, Sissel Kyrkjebø also sung this once. But most of the content here is new material so it's not really plagiarism... Although the lyrics aren't new, it's just in another language.
I really fell in love with this song though. Maaya's voice is very beautiful and Steve's voice makes it a very calming sort of song. :)

@ShinRanka Coming from a composer's point of view music is borrowed, but it stinks because the vast majority of people don't care and credit the "borrower" everything. For example this video's description doesn't credit Borodin. It would be plagiarism if Borodin wasn't officially credited since the melody is directly and consciously taken from Polovetsien Dances. It's just easier to get away with since it's less noticeable to people who don't know. But it isn't plagiarism since he is credited.
this is going to be a song me and my fiance might dance to at our wedding next spring.
