  • Awesome that was a super touchy trap. I always have trouble making the hair trigger.

  • Glad you liked it!

  • okay i made my figure 4 the same way you did in the video clip. But when i went to test it, to trigger it, it took an extensive amount of force to get the dead fall to.. fall. any idea what i could have done wrong?

  • Hard to say without seeking it... but you may want to make a longer trigger stick. If it is too short, there won't be enough leverage to make the trap spring... experiment with it though! That is where the true learning occurs!

  • at 8 seconds at the most right what kind of knife is that?

  • Very cool... I will teach it to my daughter when we are out camping. Awesome website too... Thank you.

  • you are making really great videos! Thank you for uploading.

  • Wow, you make it look so easy! I'm new to this and I spent at least 45 minute making one that didn't work....I gotta keep practicing.

  • Great tip on the diagonal stick for sensitivity.........best of type I've seen and I've seen plenty. thanks!

  • Wow! I was impressed at the touchiness of it.

  • Great video. Thank you for sharing.

  • BTW, I don't know why so many people teach figure 4 and pauti trap wrong, probably because they taught themselves or learned from others that never learned the right way.

Always make the slanted horizontal longer so that the rock is not towering over the upright because you don't want the rock reaching and falling on the upright and slowing down the rock.

Another tip is Y stick works great as an upright, makes it more stable.

  • You said you showed how little force it took to set it off, but you didn't show it being set off from the side, of course its going to come off easier being pushed down.

It was a great alternative approach to figure 4 trap but I still find figure 4 trap more sensitive especially when you learn one little tip, and that is you shave a small section off the back side under the trigger stick on the upright, so that if an animal pushes down it releases easy, same with any sideways force.
