Recently, John Cleese took some time to make fun of the people who keep the world safe from tyranny and Jackie Chan lamented that there's just too much dang freedom in the world. I wonder if Mr. Chan would be so rich if he lived under Communism?

  • I also find it cool that you put up Matheson's I Am Legend.

  • I apologize for the error, as far as I can see, Chan was indeed misquoted. I apologize for the error and have issued a retraction on the main screen.

  • No prob. What exactly did John Cleese say anyway? Was it just army bashing?

  • NEVER: See the link under MORE INFO. Yes, he was poking fun at the Marines (what did they do to him?) and he has Bush Derangement Syndrome.

For the record, Bush didn't do us any favors when one considers his spending habits and immigration policies.

  • If you check the first video on the side you can see that Jackie was speaking about the film industry.

  • Hi NEVER: Interesting. I will look further into this, I have a link on the right side to a story (the Yahoo link inside it has expired but should be available in a few months on archivedotorg) and even the Chinese gov't apparently responded to Chan's comments. They said he doesn't understand how a democracy works. Thanks for the info.

  • Oh, Yeah. I just assumed that everybody does that. Bush Derangement syndrome? I guess I can tell what that means.

  • Good. On the other hand his comments did show some ignorance of other countries in Asia and democracy.

  • "It is not oppression if you think that the gov't should be involved in those areas"

Like education? Where's the constitutional authority for FEDERAL Dept. of Ed.?

  • It is not oppression if you think that the gov't should be involved in those areas. I think you identify policies that you disagree with as gov't oppression. Was I being oppressed when Clinton signed DOMA? Of course not, but I didn't agree with it at all. Was I oppressed when Reagan enacted social policies I hated? No. Obama will enact policies that you hate and you will be able to vote him out. Welcome to my world. Do you think I want my tax $ going to fund weaponry to sell in the arms market?
