This is a showcase of one of the VTOL craft designed and built from scratch in under a week for the 2011 Summer Helicopter Workshop held at Central Connecticut State University, funded by the NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium.

Such craft are the platform for upcoming research at CCSU and competing universities for very cheap, compact aerial UAV's. Our group of 3 engineering students from around the country designed and built the PH-11 Pinkhawk, a forward swept wing, X-tail VTOL craft. Although most designs past and present have been flying wing or blended wing designs, our Pinkhawk sported a forward swept wing. This proved very useful in the high-G turning but hindered us slightly in the speed testing due to increased weight.

Most of the flying shown here was done by the judge, but you can see a picture of me flying it at the end!
