I have been playing this song for years. Having grown up by the ocean, I can relate. It is, as I say, my signature song. And to all those who say I play it too fast: you are absolutely right. After I uploaded it, I listened to it and thought, "My God, that was fast." I don't usually play so fast. I may have been nervous to be playing a song by such a legend as Stan Rogers before such a critical audience.

  • ........... Thank you for singing that song......... *crying* My Uncle sang that song all the time..... WE all miss him so and My dad especially so, I Won't be able to thank you enough for playing that song..... thank you *wipes tears away*

and by the way, ur an amazing singer

  • Where are you from?

  • Lovely rendition of this song. You should try to be more animated though.

  • This girl has great talent and this is a truly great, kinspiring song, but I'm not sure this song is the best vehicle for her lovely voice. The song is a first person narrative and I just can't see her doing three salvage dives a day off the coast of Nova Scotia, somehow,

  • Meh. I've heard better, but I've heard worse. You've got talent, but you cannot capture Rogers' magic.

  • @n7275 agreed.

  • Have you covered Northwest Passage?

  • You have a beautiful voice, i must say - very easy to listen to!! I love the way you integrate your playing and singing as well. That said, i'd love to hear you sing this song with REAL passion: it's a song filled with strong emotions and sentiments, and deserves to be sung with passion and fire. All "story telling songs" have to have true emotion in their rendering, or else it's just a waste of time both singing and listening to them. FEEL the story - and convey that feeling to the listener

  • Meh; i think you hit on a great speed. It's a really long song, and it in'nt no dirge! Nice to hear a female vocal version.

Your guitar playing is good. Any chance you could develop some kind of instrumental bridge... like that nice run you do right at the end? That might help to break up the song and lead into the ending with its change in focus... But whatever; you have a great version here. Thanks for sharing it!

  • agree @n7275 i think she should record it properly
