the Chaos mix From the Album Worm As I.review from Phantom Tollbooth:

It is blender time! If you were to take the framework of many of the popular hymns of the evangelical church over the past two centuries and mix an industrial bed of chaos beneath it, you would be close in breathing in Phloide.com. I love the industrial-laden music that has come through the pipe from Circle Of Dust, Generation, and some of the elements of Klank. I even enjoy some of the techno-trance music that has passed through the underground.

"Worm As I" is a whole other animal to me. Some might consider taking the hymns and experimenting with them somewhat "sac religious," going so far as putting a veritable bed of nails under it all, but this is creativity at its finest. To the casual listener, this can sound redundant at times. You have to treat this deeper than background music to gain appreciation for the thought put into it. This won't be for everyone, but this emanates independent and underground. At points, while listening several times to this, I could hear resolution in a musical sense.

Growing up with the hymns, I basically have all of these committed to memory. I hear elements of the lyrics, at times, even resolve. Thank the Lord that we have, as his creation, been given the ability to create music, no matter how diverse or weird it may sound to some. Experimentation can be a beautiful thing, if taken with a bed of nails.

  • This is a good description of the mind of someone who is confused and who doesn't understand who Christ is, why He is, and why they need a relationship with Him. Whew!

  • I am so glad people can come by and point out BY ITS APPEARANCE that I am confused... reminds me of the Scriptures where it says "God judges things by their outward appearances"... oh, wait...

I am sorry I do not conform to "normal, stylistic music that the WORLD appriciates..."

  • Yes, this is but confusion

  • I really wanted to listen to this beautiful traditional hymn. The words and tune are buried somewhere in this video, but it's not what I am longing to hear. I try to keep an open mind and I know everyone's taste in music is different. I think it's good to give "new or unfamiliar things" a chance, but this just seems kind of satanic. Oh well, maybe it will speak a good message to someone.

  • I think that used to be a beautiful hymn.

  • This is crap and sounds like a bunch of nonsense-- but if you think it glorifies god then go ahead

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you.

  • I don't really understand what it is you're talking about. You're basically saying that, without actually laying down any sort of message, phoide is trying to point out that Jesus is not someone who you have a conditioned interpretation of?

All music that phoide makes sounds like this. It's his style. I'm assuming he titled this piece of music after a biblical reference because he was inspired to make it by some sort of religious happening.
