Gene Hackman on Inside the Actors Studio
hosted by James Lipton
season 8, episode 2
original airdate 2001-10-14

quality for this one is again not the greatest (the irony is that this has 720p resolution) and unfortunately i couldn't find the fourth part of this so there's quite a bit missing. the cut is at the 29:40 mark where they start talking about him getting into the actors studio. this means that everything from the 80s and 90s is not there. if anyone has that part please tell me

i had to cut out all the movie bits because otherwise youtube would have blocked the video

  • Respected Hackman anyway- one of the finest, most natural actors of his generation I always thought- but the fact that he was in China with the Marines during WWII AT SIXTEEN? Holy crap, man. Mondo respect.

  • We need Gene.

  • Exceptional, very influential actor.

  • I miss Gene Hackman. C; hopefully one more movie ;)

  • He looks like Edward Norton at 07:54.

  • @ugleeamerican Well, Gene is 81. He enlisted in the USMC and became a radio operator at 16- spending time in the "China Marines" right after the surrender of the Japanese, so literally right after the official end of the war, I suppose. Being a Marine in hostile territory at 16 still commands my respect, if indeed your point was that because it was the year WWII officially ended it was less impressive.

  • @perusbaltero 1945. Gene enlisted in the USMC at sixteen years of age, and was four years as a radio operator, including time in the "China Marines" between 1945-1948. Occupation just after the surrender of the Japanese, I believe.

  • @DarkeningSkies1 Not trying to take anything away from your point here but when did WW II end again...?!? :D

  • 7.52 its edward norton!

  • Darkeningskies, WW2 ended in 1945. Just saying

  • I come here to listen to him talk about his Dad leaving. The effect a wayward father can have on his boy is astounding. Very sad, very profound.
