What Is Keyboard Focus?

The Keyboard Focus, as it's called, is what enables you to use shortcuts in Pro Tools 9. Virtually every computer program made has keyboard shortcuts programmed into its coding, and they can help you increase your speed, efficiency and workflow.

How Do They Work?

Shortcuts tend to make it easy to perform common functions that you may find yourself constantly using on a regular basis in a particular program.

By default, Pro Tools turns off keyboard shortcuts to disable them. To turn them on and enable them, navigate to the top right corner of the edit window and click the button with the letters a and z.

When the button is highlighted a yellow color, then keyboard shortcuts are enabled.

Here are some listed keyboard shortcuts:

* T - zoom in

* R - zoom out

* Command+Shift+N - new track

* Command+= - mix window

* Command+S - save

You can easily view every keyboard shortcut under each function in the top menu bar.

  • Great video although you mixed up Alt and Shift, shift is the up arrow key, so repeat would be Alt + R not shift +R :)!!!
