I wouldn't call BLTB complex for complexity's sake. That's just how formal music is in a way, complicated but for reasons of expression and structure. Agreed though, this is absolutely gorgeous! Very introspective.

It's the tape making the pitch change. Put on headphones and turn it up. You hear everything go up, not just the instruments. Everything is also sped up a hair.

My goodness. Your videos are a goldmine!  The boys performed this two weeks ago in Charleston at the Spoleto Festival, and I fell in love with it instantly.

the pitch alteration is intentional and not to be blamed on the camera; thile and the boys are responsible for that. personally i think they managed to take what's usually a technical issue and turn it into this song's greatest asset. so basically, i really love the pitch change.

I love that you put these up! They're the best videos on the web. But you're new camera is a bit wacky. It's always altering the pitch. I liked the old one better, and I think the sound was better in general on that one, and the video quality was the best I'd seen as well.

it's almost like they're coming off of the "complexity for complexity's sake" high of the "blind leaving the blind" stuff and have crashed into a musical trance that's still complex melodically, but only insomuch as it's necessary to beautiful music. both periods of music are great in their own way, but this is just gorgeous on a whole new level.
