Doing some more Night Shot testing & editing with the Canon Vixia HF20/200 & Vegas Pro 9

All scenes were shot in TV mode at 1/30th or 1/60th of a second, standard Mode (60i) at 5 Mbps (LP). Manual exposure compensation was anywhere from -1 to -3. Rendered out in 1280x720 at 29.970p fps.

Edited with Sony Vegas Pro 9. Did some experimentation with different fades and crossfades in this video. Gamma Correction and Unsharpen Mask is all that was used (no color grading at all).

I'm using a 3-way tilt head designed for heavy still cameras for the panning, which is why my pan shots are so awful & glitchy! What's needed is a very fluid head designed for video cams... next on the shopping list!

  • Ive been seeing a whole lot of bad reviews concerning canon hf200s ability to transfer from the camera to file. is this true? I want to be able to edit on my laptop and make disks but if it cant Ill find it useless

  • I'm trying to view my video shoots from my camcorder to my laptop while on the road and is asking me to plug in my power adapter in order to view my shoots. Do you know how can get to view my video with out the power adapter. I don't want to be taking out my SD card all the time. Thank you.

  • @flabzqblock

set it to CINEMA MODE and you dont get any grain!

  • @gman100 Well if you think it looks good, then isn't it just to expect that it's edited on a Mac? Ever thought about using what's called a brain?

  • @TehAndrewRyan How's life in mom's basement? Btw, pcs are garbage and yes, makes a lot of difference. Stay with your nerd video games dopey.

  • @gman100 Why the hell are you spamming the same comment everywhere? It doesn't matter if you edit on PC or Mac since you can get just as nice footage on both platforms.

  • hey nice video i just cant get my head around how you got those shots with this camera everytime i use it i get this grainy outcome i cant seem to get it like you have ata all any help greatfully recieved

  • Very Nice

  • Hello, great shots. I'm curious, did you edit using pc or mac?

  • All of these night scenes look great, but I haven't seen one that features people in them. How do people look in low light situations? Most of these shots may as well be stills.
