This is based on my earlier attempt at making the live action Starscream a bit more "familiar".

I was never overly impressed with the way Starscream was portrayed in the live action film, from the general design that looked nothing like Screamer to his lack of dialogue and lack of any character familiar from his old self.

Obviously with Chris Latta gone, he couldn't have been in the movie and we could never have the same voice, but while Charlie Adler sounds Starscream-esque in the dubbing theatre, the treatment changed it a bit and needed to be more Latta-esque.

So I was wondering what Starscream would've sounded like with a bit more G1 characterisation - giving Adler something to play with - so I've borrowed bits of dialogue from the original series and movie and married it up with Starscream's scenes from the film.

I've also thrown in some original sound effects, most noticeably the transforming noise (though with a slightly deeper pitch) and the original Decepticon and Autobot weapons SFX, which I think work quite well and am wondering why they went for new gun sound effects!

I would have howled (or squee-ed??) with joy had something like this happened, and I think it shows that with a little bit more effort we really could've gotten a proper Starscream!!

Also in the background is Vince DiCola's "Autobot/Decepticon Battle theme", which I think adds to the G1 feel, and also helps covers up the edits! Yes, I know that on some speakers or headphones it may be too loud, but a lot of the original clips were not clean and had background music over them, so bringing the music up a notch was the only way I could disguise them - however I've found that the mix can sound different on different hardware - to me it seems fine on my machine, but have noticed it more obscured on others so apologies in advance if you're one of those people.

This is the first time I've done something quite as adventurous as this with video, so I hope you enjoy it!!

Thanks to Tim Shinn for his version of a movie Starscream in the end slide.

  • I love the "My foot" part. Too bad there's no inclusion of "Pathetic fools! There's no escape!"

  • @VSharpshooter Try listening 40 seconds in! It's there!!

  • fucking LOVE this song. What is it called ? reminds me of the GOOD movie 1986 not the bay bullshit

  • @brokenhalo2001 If you search for "Autobot/Decepticon battle" by Vince diCola you'll get it in full!

  • This was amazing. Star scream has always been my favorite character. I even learned how to make the voice when I was younger. Do you know what the music is?

    Thanks!

  • @MajicAnimations Thanks! Yes, it's called "Autobot/Decepticon Battle" from the original 1986 Transformers film, composed by Vince DiCola.

  • Next up, Welker doing Megatron. I like Hugo Weaving and all, but cast the voice actors that made it famous. You got Cullen, get Welker. And SURELY someone could do a Latta/Collins impression.

  • omg if michael bay used the 86 music and a voice actor resembling chris latta, the movies would be watchable at least (if he actually stayed true to the source material, it would be AWESOME!!1 but that's hoping way too much from baybag)

  • very cool. The music was a little overpowering in a couple of spots, but otherwise, an awesome job!!

  • Just watched the real transformer movie 86 much better then that crap there pushing on the kids now ur an idiot delta go get the 25th anniversary then speak

  • Aaahh, the best song from the '86 movie. I need to play it on bass and put it on Youtube someday.

  • oh,you just ruined the REAL movie starscream by putting his sissy G1 voice in! NOOOOOO!

  • Too bad they made him look like a giant metal dorito :/

  • THEY SHOULDVE MADE IT LIKE THIS THEN IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD MOVIE!
