Ultima V: Warriors Of Destiny: Here's a gem from one of my favourite RPG's, one of the original classics of gaming times which seem ancient now. This tune was the only one that played on the Amiga version, despite this I think that captures the Ultima universe perfectly and one that I instantly recall to my childhood, watching my parents play this, notepad, cloth map and graph paper in hand.

  • It actually appears that Metallica starting writing One in 87, and both the song and U5 came out in 89... very odd and not a coincidence I think. Lets be honest, its far more likely U5 got the music from Metallica then the other way around!

  • @gringo84 How is that possible if U5 came out before the song went public?

  • @SURPLUSNiNjA Well I guess the same could be said as how is it possible that Metallica was influenced by U5 if metallica "wrote" One before U5 got released..? Both One and U5 were being written, made etc around the same time.

  • I thought I was the only one who thought that, I totally agree. In fact it's pretty damn note for note the same, it wouldn't suprise me if they didn't get the guitar melody from U5! Metallica have a history of been influenced by media/movies when it comes to their music e.g the "Ecstasy of Gold" tune they always played in live gigs from The Good, The Bad and the Ugly movie.

  • @gringo84 Well, this is amiga version. Original U5 theme is much different.

  • @babytkim You really think it takes one month to create a game completely, as well as publish and market it?

  • i'm glad i'm not the only one to think to think it sounds excactly like "one" xD

  • I can't remember Britannia, can't tell if this is true or a dream, see the ankh and I feel to scream, terrible shadowlords stop me...

Blackthorn has taken my arms, taken my legs, taken my sight, taken my hearing, left me with life in pain!!!!

  • Metallica released ...And Justice For All in August of 1988. Ultima 5 was released October 1988. Therefore, the composer for the game essentially plagiarized Metallica. This was somewhat common back in those days; look at Doom's heavy inspiration from various metal bands as an example. Still, I think it's cool to stumble across things like this.
