@420messenger He was not talking about loving Jesus, he was talking about following Jesus. Following the teachings and morals of a divine figure is religion.

@andysmusic That sounds so creepy. "Lord of their Life" makes it sound like those persons are his slaves.

I believe the biggest problem is many self proclaimed Christians merely go through their "religious" motions without ever truly letting Jesus into their heart and making him Lord of their Life.

@blackplatypus "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?--gird up now thy loins like a man." Yes I have "asserted things" but I am not going to write you an assay for free--go read Job, and see if you can find fault with the poetry. Shakespeare, Blake, Wordsworth, Frost, Paine, Whitman, Swift . . . .this would be a tiny fraction of the writers who praise the poet of job, and were influenced by him or her.

I'm sorry, you said the bible contained "sublime wisdom" not "literary merit." Also, it's entertaining to me that you didn't actually provide any justification for your claims you simply *asserted* things and appealed to the opinions of literary critics. Here, I'll start you off.
"The writer of Job is skilled because..."

Eh...it didn't sound as good, but your points were stronger. Also I think that believing that one's sins can be forgiven by sacrificing an innocent (even if he does it willingly) is one of the most wicked things about Christianity.

I totally loved the poem as well but I notice it had major flaws. Religion means to practice a moral code. Christians follow and believe in a moral code, a moral code that god gave us. The bible is the word of God and nowhere in the bible does it say Jesus hates religion. The poet really ment that Jesus hated man made religion. The men in the church were corrupt then and still are today. You cannot just believe in Jesus, You have to walk with Jesus and that is religion

@blackplatypus The skill and power of the writer of Job is unquestioned by anyone who is not prejudiced. Most literary critics place him or her right up there with Shakespeare. Ecclesiasticus is also of unquestioned literary merit. And the prose in the morally questionable Judges, is nearly flawless--undoubtedly superior to Aesop."There are none so blind as those who will not see." I feel sorry for you, you have let Atheism, like so many have let religion destroy great literature for no reason.
its funny how people forget that Jesus is a person who loves us, not a religion.

@SweetAfrica93 Jesus is a part of religion. Muhammad isn't religion, but Islam is.
