I like the big flames, but is it possible to have bigger flames without the pitch feedback and crappy sounding bass?

You have the gas up too high.
Mine dose that too, but only with too much gas

It's a balance of as much gas as I can feed it for big flames, without swamping the speakers so they can't drive it anymore. Less gas does give a more nuanced flame, but too little gas and it loses its impressive character.
