Minuet in G Major is originally a keyboard piece in the Book for Anna Magdalena Bach. It is disputed as to whether J.S. Bach or Christian Petzold composed it. Since I do not have a degree in any musical field, and you might not be either, lets just skip that bit of trivia. Now as Ive said, Minuet is in G Major so it has one sharp (F#). For most of the piece, you stay in first position. In the beginning of the second half of the song (measure 17), I suggest being in second position and using your fourth finger to hit the B and having your first finger anchored on the G. I prefer staying in second until the beginning of measure 18 on the D eight note. I play the D eight note with my second finger and strum the open E string so I can shift back to first position on the F#. The most dynamics the Minuet would need is softening before a full measure of ascending eight notes and having a crescendo during the ascending eight notes such as on measure 21.
Thanks man. I really appreciate this. I love the banjo, and really enjoy its versatility. Good stuff.
