''law of the land'' is just common law which can be amended, added to, taken away, though parliament, voting, it does not matter, when it is passed it becomes LAW. we dont have a ''civil law''system, its common law. the legal process is separate, and that will be decided by a judge, however police do not judge, they follow the LAW. if you break it,or they have suspicion,just have some respect
