Hey dude, just checked out your site. I got scammed in Thailand earlier this year - was just there for one day on a flight stopover. Traveling on my own, knew to watch out for people who told me they had a friend/uncle/cousin who could get me a good deal on jewelery but I had no idea that it could be so involved! Luckily I was still skeptical and didnt part out too much money for the ring I got - it was pretty much a present for myself... I'd be keen to know how your site's going.

The sit is going ok, it grows as more people post their stories and the similiarities between the scams is unnerving. For me the issue was that I trust other tourists in other countries, and now I won't do that.

Its Thailand, what the hell do you expect? I have been to Thailand twice and rule #1 is dont trust anyone with directions, dont trust cab drivers, and it helps if you understand Thai language at least a little.

Bottom line if you trust someone you DONT know then dont be surprised when you get burned.

there are scams all over the world, but it's getting worse in thailand these days & tourist are going to orther countrys, i bet they will be scamed there to, just wake up & be aware what ever country you go to, i'll like to add that since 2008 there are less people coming to thailand each year, it's down 15% this yr from last yr, it's high season now in Phuket & i'll tell you it's dead at night in the bars at Karon/Kata/Chalong/Kamala/Pato­ng ect, the only place that will survive is Bangla Road

I'm Thai and I'd be hard pressed to buy any land, jewelery, or investments in Thailand. If you decide on buying anything, you'll need to have friends/contacts in the government to make sure everythings up the up and up on land deals.

On gold or jewels, better have the knowledge or equipment on hand to determine validity of the item.
