@ecadre1 Agreed. LOL

@Gwid01 Heh, if you don't want people to comment on Youtube about what you write then don't write comments on Youtube. :-P
As for the "Celtic" thing, it's really a music marketing term that's got out of control. I've even seen a TV programme say Basques are "honoury celts", whatever that means.
Your comment about Normandy just seemed to be another bizarre twist in this story. I'm sorry that I couldn't read your mind and guess that you meant Brittany. I could only go on what you wrote.

I'd have to look up the reference, but I remember reading that this song was written for the Agricultural workers union in the late 19th Century.

@Rumpoleful The "Celts" lived so long ago that everybody has "celtic roots" somewhere ... everyone, from the Chinese to the Nigerians. Humans are all incredibly closely related, and the one thing we like to do is interbreed at every opportunity ;-D

@Gwid01 Normandy is a "Celtic nation"?!?!
This is going from the plain daft to the barmy.

Norman then they are probably talking about their name - which comes from only one strand of our great many strands of ancestry. Just saying! In fact the numbers after 40 generations the numbers are so impossibly massive that it becomes irrelevant.
-
@gaconnochie - Right. My sister did our tree and says we're 1/1,000,000 Charlemagne - direct descendants but 1000 years ago. It's where I get my height and overbearing attitude.
-
@RMKHAnacortes "apparently I'm mostly Norman English" Our direct ancestors double every generation. For example 2 parents 4 grand-parents etc. If you go back just 10 generations then you have over 1000 direct ancestors. Going back to Norman times then the numbers get astronomical. In truth people can't possible know who these potential ancestors are and in england they must have included all the peoples (ie Saxon, Dane etc) but especially the base Celtic British peoples. When people say I am
ty i love those photos pic s of old england i have a link with barnados and i always think about that when i hear that music and see those pics
