These are the pics of my visit to Ghalib's Haveli and of red fort...with one ghalib's best known GHazal.

here are the lyrics and translation :

hain aur bhi duniya main sukhanwar bahut acchay (There are other poets in the world that are very good)

kehtay hain ki ghalib kay andaaz-i-bayaan aur....(they say but that the way Ghalib puts it, is something else..)

Har ek baat pay kehtay ho tum, ki tu kya hai (on just about every thing u tell me who u are)

Har ek baat pay kehtay ho tum, ki tu kya hai (on just about every thing u tell me who u are)

tumhi kaho ki, yeh andaz-i-guftagoo kya hai (now u only tell wat is this way to talk like this..)

tumhi kaho ki, yeh andaz-i-guftagoo kya hai (now u only tell wat is this way to talk like this..)

Ragon mein daudtay firnay kay hum nahi kayal (i am not fond of seeing them flow in the veins)

Ragon mein daudtay firnay kay hum nahi kayal (i am not fond of seeing them flow in the veins)

Jab aankh hi say na tapka to fir lahoo kya hai (when it didnt dropped out of the eyes then may be its not blood)

Ragon mein daudtay firnay kay hum nahi kayal (i am not fond of seeing them flow in the veins)

Jab aankh hi say na tapka to fir lahoo kya hai (when it didnt dropped out of the eyes then may be its not blood)

chipak raha badan par lahu se pairaahan
hamare jeb ko ab haajat-e-rafu kya hai

(When my bloodied clothes are sticking to my body...What is the use of mending/darning my pocket then)

jala hai jism jahan dil bhi jal gaya hoga (when the body has burned now..may be the heart would have burnt too)

jala hai jism jahan dil bhi jal gaya hoga (when the body has burned now..may be the heart would have burnt too)

Kuraidtay ho jo ab raakh justajoo kya hai (now why do u scratch these ashes..wat do u really want now)

Har ek baat pay kehtay ho tum, ki tu kya hai (on just about every thing u tell me who u are)

rahi na taqat-e-guftar aur agar ho bhee(There remains none but little strength to speak)

rahi na taqat-e-guftar aur agar ho bhee(There remains none but little strength to speak)

to kis umeed pay keh dain ki aarzoo kya hai (then on wat hope should i tell u wat is my wish)

to kis umeed pay keh dain ki aarzoo kya hai (then on wat hope should i tell u wat is my wish)

Har ek baat pay kehtay ho tum, ki tu kya hai (on just about every thing u tell me who u are)

tumhi kaho ki, yeh andaz-i-guftagoo kya hai (now u only tell wat is this way to talk like this..)

Har ek baat pay kehtay ho tum, ki tu kya hai (on just about every thing u tell me who u are)

  • The section from 3:35 - 4:20 is very good. Does anyone know who the singer is of that part specifically or where I can download that particular rendition?

  • @Kontragraphic I think it's Vinod Sehghal during that section(because the other Male voice is of Jagjeet Singh that I know), I don't where you can download just that part but may be this link would help, full song there with it's credits .. just go to google music India site( first result from "google music India" google search) and then from there search "Ibteda" (for some reasons It shows error in posting when I put the complete link here)

  • cool dear...could you please tell me where is this? I might visit it when I visit India

  • Pathetic. Pictures are self projection and has nothing to do with Ghalib. You didn't have to translate Ghalib's poetry. It's not an easy task for the language specialists. Let alone any one anyone else. You can translate Ghalib in language, But you can't translate the thought behind words. You have to feel Ghalib, to know Ghalib. Sorry for my bluntness.

  • 14 people dislike the video. not the poetry.

  • @9124156 I respect your emotions and obsession with Mirza Asad Ullah Khan Ghalib.

  • Translations is really bad.... inaccurate

  • Tell me what kind of talk is this?Ghalib protests saying that anything that he says, he is insulted by the constant refrain, “Who art thou?” The ‘kya’ here is not meant to ask a question but to express a taunt. The emphasis should be read on ‘har ek’ and ‘tum’ i.e. he is being taunted on everything that he says. In this verse Ghalib is not insulting to his beloved, but kind of tells her that if she disagrees with him, she could argue, but not shut him up.

  • ABEY CHUTIYE-
