In 1967, Rowe/AMI thought it would be a good idea to create short films to accompany music being played on their jukeboxes. The Super 8 films dubbed "Phonovue" were produced without sound. When a person plugged money into a jukebox, a random film would pop up on a small viewing screen. The carousel device held up to 20 different films. There were several categories of films, the majority of which depicted young folks dancing. Any sort of music will work. For Sweet Shoppe, I used an old song titled "Hamburger Hop." Feel free to turn down the sound and use your own material. Anything will work - from jug band to heavy metal. The Phonovue system failed to capture the imagination of either patrons or bar owners and was aborted around 1969. Nearly 400 different low-budget films were made (some even contain partial nudity). Today, they are extremely rare. Enjoy!
Ha ha. This is great. It's stuck between the 40's early 50's lindy hop and 60's Go Go girl in the cage. Your music selection adds another great counter-point. Late 30's country-western. Is that Hank Williams? In his style anyway.
I was 17 when these were produced but never saw these jukes. Must not have been in NY area.
