Meg Asks:

My oldest daughter has her Venus and Sun in the 12th house. I started reading on the Sun in the 12th house aspect and was terrified. One astrologer claims that a person with this placement has a bad or non-existant relationship with their father, due to separation, divorce or death of the father.
What is your take on this placement?

  • If Capricorn is on the 4th House, then Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, would represent that person's experience of his or her father.

  • Also one of my good friends also has sun in 12th house. His father turned out to be a criminal and has been in federal prison for several years. He is fearful because soon he will be getting out. Also a lot of pisces people I know don't have a relationship with their father.

  • @FunnyStuffDirector Again, this is coincidence, not causality. Just because you know a handful of Pisces people who have father issues doesn't mean that there's a universal connection between Pisces and father issues. There ABSOLUTELY is no automatic connection between Pisces and the 12th house, however.

  • It's important to not confuse coincidence with causality. That you have your Sun in the 12th house didn't cause your experience of your relationship with your father.

Also, it's essential to understand that when a planet represents a person in your life, all it represents is YOUR EXPERIENCE of that person, not the actual person. Assuming the Sun does represent your father, your sun could not predict his behavior.

  • Why does Sun in the 12th house interpretations bother you so much? In my experience, it means absent father, in whatever way.

  • try having chiron in that house...

  • I wish he would actually get to the heart of the question rather than going off on a tangent against "cookbook-style books" for half of the video.

  • If you think the Sun in the 12th house sucks, try having Saturn in that house....

  • @TheRealAstrology Yes I am aware that it can manifest in many different ways. The question just got me thinking and it just happens to be the case with everyone that I know with Sun in the 12th house.

  • As if late things have gotten better and I spend more time with him tho
