4AD supergroup, formed in 1983 by Ivo Watts-Russell. This Mortal Coil included members of various bands from the Alternative music scene, e.g. Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, The Wolfgang Press, Cindytalk, Marc and the Mambas, The Venomettes, Xmal Deutschland, Modern English, Colourbox, Dif Juz, Breathless, Colin Newman, The Breeders, Shelleyan Orphan and many others. Numerous songs are cover versions of Rock, Folk and Country artists.
"Waves Become Wings" was published in 1984. The track was written and sung by Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance).

TMC was more of a project than a band. It consisted of different people each time they recorded, which was three times, in '84, '86, and '91. All three of their albums were excellent, and very different, but the second one, "Filigree and Shadow" is my personal favorite.
