Soundproof was like the 'Ready Steady Go' of Vancouver back then..and Nightdreams ..I remember watching all these bands back then thinking they were huge ..and they were.

Those guys put out some great stuff. Thankfully there's at least one cd of their old EPs available! Sad that Art Bergmann, the singer/guitarist, has bad arthritis now...

Agree with bandcouver, these guys were great. Man Van had some awsome acts in that period. At least 5 bands should have been world class.

Intelligent lyrics, energetic playing. So much better than the empty-headed tripe that passes for Punk in the boring mainstream these days. The Young Canadians songs actually said something about disgust about the system and how manipulative it is.Lead singer and guitarist Art Bergmann is one of the best acts Vancouver ( or anywhere ) has produced. Some of his songs have the most thoughtful and memorable lyrics and melodies ever written.
