Newsman Laughs at Diplomat named "Dikshit"

Sheila Dikshit, pronounced Dixit, is the chief minister of Delhi, India and her name has been in the headlines over the games. New Zealand newscaster Paul Henry couldn't stop laughing at the woman's last name, even pronouncing it "Dick Shit" and "Dip Shit" . Henry has since resigned.

Now here, the fact is, that New Zealand wasn't initially a convict settlement, Australia was. But people will laugh about your family history, sterotyping everyone in the continent. Similarly, you laugh when your anchor associates Indians and shit when he comes up with one woman named 'dikshit'. Sterotyping may result in seemingly harmless insults of an individual (blondes are dumb) or armies marching and gassing millions to death (Germany). A tolerant man knows where to draw the line.

Firstly, it's funny that you keep accusing me of trying to make you stop watching videos, but it's you who insists I shouldn't watch what you call your 'humour'. Secondly, the thing is, jokes like this ceased to be funny for me once I passed Junior school. I would have gone on thinking this is a universal experiance had I not talked to you, which makes me seriously doubt the capabilities of New Zealand's education system. But then again, you are but one example, and I shouldn't stereotype.

Apparently your anchor's freedom of speech is specifically reserved for Indians. He has earlier made comments on whether your Governor General of Indian descent looked and sounded like a New Zealander or not, whether his skin was fit enough to be a New Zealander's. I am sure someone like you will find that funny too. Tells a lot about what kind of person he is. 'No malicious intent', eh?

he left of his own accord. he could have stayed if he wanted to. he got a million dollar a year job, which was more than before. then he was offered a new job back at tvnz at a prime 7 pm slot, which was much better than the breakfast slot (but had to turn that down as he had been snapped up by their rival). Paul appears in advertisements, and travel documentaries as well as radio. He has no regrets over the Indian remarks, whatsoever, and remains hugely popular.

This anchor will not be making any racist jokes...he got kicked off his show then, and even if he is the King of New Zealand for all I care right now, he will not be making jokes about Ndians. He can make all the potty jokes your heart desire for all I care and you can laugh at them.
