There was and may still be a rat in the house and this was my failed attempt at catching him.

Be sure you use the big snapper trap; meaning the one that can break a finger

Peanut butter works great. Place 3-4 of them alont where you ind the rat droppings, and then another one near your garbage bag area. Rat will squeal for a half a minute, but I stpped on the thing (Yes I wore work boots) You might have a few of the critters

rats could survive a hit to the body or head get knock the fuck out and still able to walk away hours later. the older rats learn how to avoid glue traps and conventional traps. they are very smart. i spend lots of money traying to trap one of these guys finally had to buy a co2 pellet gun that did the trick.

It was lying on the floor, literally 5 feet away from you, and you let it get away. You just had to grab the video camera, didn't you? Standing there, filming a rat you wanna kill, instead of killing it.
