Pensacola should have gotten the old girl. She spent more time stationed at NAS Pensacola than any of her other deployments. I docked and undocked her on my family's tugboats during the 80's and early 90's and supplied diesel to her by tank barge during her stay at the Port of Pensacola, while they were rebuilding the pier at PNAS for the Forrestall.

Some sailors don't like to see their ship on display like this, but others are able to draw an appreciation for the sacrifices made aboard her.
