El martes de las fiestas de Santiago Apóstol, en la Medianía Baja es el día de los guayamenses o guayameros como les mentan!! Y ahí si se vive lo que Loíza es!!

@harupal1 Muy interesante! Me imagino que eso explicaria la coneccion del Apellido Lind en la area sur y en Loiza.

@salsero79 Eso es verdad. Agapito Lind - creo que era abuelo de Angelita fue uno de mis mejores amigos. Ese viejito me rescató de entre las aguas del Río Grande y del océano que casi destruyen a Loíza y barrieron con la playa privada que había adquirido mi padre en Medianía Baja. Cuando me encontró en la mañana con su Diesel D-8, yo estaba amarrado a una maquina de hacer hielo que había instalado la tarde anterior!! Definitivamente - Agapito siempre será mi héroe!!

@harupal1 Me interesa mucho sus comentarios sobre Loiza. Me gustaria aprender mas. Llegaste a participar en bailes de Bombas en tiempos atras? En el 2006 tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Chichito y los Osorios. Me hubiera gustado presenciar antiguos bailes de Bomba.

Como mis padres me criaron sin complejos, acepto que vengo de un sopón de jueyes, papas y repollos (negro, arawako y europeo) y que mi orgullosa raja de negro va desde la Medianía hasta el Ausubal, por vía de San Lorenzo además, y que soy Parrilla y Nieves, Clemente, Cepeda y Ayala además, y soy parte de los mismos guayamenses que pa' separarnos, nos llevaron a Loíza a reposar!!

@harupal1 Interesante. Un amigo mio me conto una vez que hubo una colonia de Guayameros que se establecieron en Loiza y que por eso existe la cancion que se canta en Loiza "Guayamero yo soy de Guayama, soy soy soy de Guayama".

to deny our african roots is to deny our identity.puerto ricans are and always have been a melting pot.spaniards,africans,tainos.­africans have contributed so much to our culture.food,music religion and even our spanish language has been influenced by the africans.i'm a proud mulato.even thou my skin is white but in my veins runs deep the blood of europeans,indians and africans.when i hear the drums i have to dance,its like something clicks inside of me.so much that i became a percusonist.

@eurodollarpeso - Tainos were not wiped out their culture was. that's why recent dna test show that puerto ricans are more white and indian than black. and the people that live in the mountains of pr are the white jibaros. but Loiza is a beautiful town in pr.

@eurodollarpeso yes, PR should love there african ancestry. They way you posted your comment, you make it seem as if they should forget about there tru root witch is native taino. No, not all tainos were wipe out. ive seen alot of native lookin PR, have you seen miguel cotto mom? she looks 100% native..so i respectfully disagree, there is youtube vid around here were they did genetic testing were there was still significant native blood in PR...

Como te extrano, Puerto Rico. Nuestra culture es inigualable. Mi corazon resalta cuando oigo el ritmo de los cueros. Algun dia te volvera a ver.

@salsero79 No pude bailarlos (despues al pertenecer a un cuerpo de baile lo hice) pero los vi y disfrute! No solo de los viejos, sino de chicos y chicas que ahora son los tártaros del baile local... y el ver a niñ@s que le daban pela a cualesquiera de sus mayores es un verdadero orgullo boricua!!
