  • He makes easy what is so darn difficult. Only the best drummers can achieve that when you look at them. You think, hey I can do that, then you feel confident to reply the same in your kit and you realize you can't even achieve 1% shown in this video. :-)

From 5'07 to 5'30 is the most killing out of this world solo I have see in my life. The problem with this video is that the audience if so cold, they don't even applaude at the end. So cold. Bravo Weckl ! So good, so talented.

  • Fantastic!! But I believe you have to be a drummer to really aprecciate his skill. If Dave lacks anything, it would be imagination to create beats that sticks on your brain. In the classic clip where Weckl, Caliouta and Gadd plays - it's Gadd I remember best! And Weckl is at least twice as skillfull as Gadd!

  • jojo mayer and dave are about same age, both have their own bands, and yet there's a significant difference in their playing recently. jojo seems to get more intense and dave less. so if not the age, the music, is it whiskey or women....

  • a mi sie nie podoba jakies pitolenie na bębenkach

  • @smoukondeuoter ;) ^_^

  • @TelloPerd yes, You're right dude, I totally agree. But, I'd say that maybe those people should put their drum on ebay if they have one ^_^

  • 6 characteristics of Dave's soloing that are very impressive: 1. dynamics, 2. technicality, 3. control, 4. speed and 5. coordination, and last but not least 6. grace. He has no doubt mastered the art of drumming.

  • ...drumming is not just making noise, bit music.

  • This solo shows technique and artistry at it's highest form. It's an inimitable display of complete independence, precise dynamic control, thematic development, tasteful form and composition, and master craftsmanship.

And also, for those of you who may not have noticed, the Latin rhythm he based this entire solo around is arguable the most difficult to master. Moreover, he was staying in tempo while simultaneously retarding!! That's masterful skill.

Dave show us that drumming is not just ma

  • For the people calling this boring....I will say it again....It Has To Be A Lack Of Understanding....Because even an opinion has to be based on something...and if you understand even a tenth of what is happening here....You simply could not use the word "BORING",and keep a straight face!!

  • Weckl is beyond godly, just saying. There's a bit of Benny Greb inspiration in this solo, but he definitely made it his own
