we saw the Red Arrows yesterday at the Southport Airshow, it was so good we all thought they were going to crash into each other, they were that close, haha

That's the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit). Its a generator that powers the plane when it is on the ground (electrical, A/C) so it doesnt have to run an engine. it also can start the engines when the plane is away from the terminal.
