This is an Extatosoma tiaratum, AKA the Spiny Leaf-Insect, If you're wondering what it is eating at the start it appears to have just shed it's skin and is now eating the shed skin, It's full of proteiny goodness! They are top pets.. although not cuddly.. but you definitely become attached to them.. they become Very cute to someone who keeps them.. I think they are adorable

@TheInsectMania Yeah Im sure. It might not be this exact secies, but its a cousin for sure. There is a little twist to the story though...I was actually oking 2 of them and they were mating...I was young 12 or 13, but to say the least, the taste and burn was unforgetable. Very metallic in flavor, it was kinda like getting hit in the face with an aluminum bat
I think Texas is alot like Australia in that its more dangerous in creatures and flora than your tyical civilized establishment.

@Mazzy95 Incorrect. Stick insects can mate, but most species can produce eggs without mating. They "Clone" themselves. They eat their skin for extra nutrients. These guys are in no way cannibalistic or insectivorous.

@MrTex1987 You sure? I don't recall hearing about any stick insects that spray, unless it's the Black Beauty/Velvet which live in Peru. It probably wasn't a stick insect.
