They really did care about every detail (even if it sounds like a joke in this sketch) and this is just one of the many reasons why I love Fry&Laurie and the Pythons. It always looked right, near to perfection - never cheap.
I don't know how they did it, most men would look terrible in drags but they did not. Not to me anyway.
