wigo technologies (www.wigoteec.com) s commercializing a novel technology from Boston University that leverages the energy stored in waste to produce low cost and predictably‐priced high purity hydrogen. High purity hydrogen is currently a $10 billion dollar segment of the general hydrogen market. It is primarily produced through the reformation of price‐volatile natural gas and, to a lesser extent, the electrolysis of water. The high price is due to the processing steps required to remove contaminants and high transportation costs. hGT's advantages include the system's low cost energy input and its scalability ‐allowing for onsite generation at competitive prices. Initial target customers will have a significant volume of waste and the need for high purity hydrogen at the same location. At larger scales and/or with future increases in natural gas prices, the opportunity to compete in the much larger, $200 billion general hydrogen market becomes more attractive.
