Chemical Imbalance

People with depression are often told that they have a chemical imbalance despite the fact that there is no medical test to detect such an imbalance.

Instead medications that effect different brain chemicals are basically thrown at a person randomly, dosages are changes, different drugs are tried, multiple medications are tried and finally electroshock therapy is used if the person failed to respond to the antidepressants.

Sharon talks about her experience with her doctor and psychiatrists telling her she had a chemical imbalance. She originally was prescribed antidepressants by her doctor for depression and was later referred to psychiatry. Before it was over, she took medications for 12 years and probably tried dozens of different psychotropic drugs. All the time she got worse, became suicidal and decided to get herself off the medications.

Now she as been off medications for 2 years is emotionally stable and living a happy life.

  • The same doctor who told me to never try speed, also prescribed me Ritalin when I was a teen. I suppose he just didn't want me taking my money to a street doctor instead.

  • I think it's bullshit how they take people with situational depression and put them on pills that cause mental illness then give them more pills for the chemically induced mental illnesses they created.

If someone has a chemical imbalance then it's not going to be situational. Being depressed because you lost someone or because you've run into a rough patch in life isn't a mental illness, it's normal and may even serve a function as it motivates you to change things.

  • Doctors and Psychiatrist is full of crap; your doctor speaks of antidepressant as if they are candy. "Takes the edge off"? what a joke. There are no chemical imbalance test to prove any of this; it's all a scam.

  • 90% of the time, mental diagnosis is a fraud. Get outside and reconnect with nature and change your diet to be more nutritious and less fattening.
