This is the video from the speed stringing competition held at the 2010 GSS Symposium in Orlando, Florida sponsored by Prince Sports and officiated by Dave Bone of the USRSA. Opening comments are by Steve Davis of Prince Sports.

Jim Downes had the winning time of 11:16.7 using a Prince P5000 stringing machine, Prince EXO3 Rebel 95 racquet with an 18x20 string pattern, and Prince Twisted 16L poly string. Certainly not the easiest racquet/string combination but the idea was to give these contestants a real challenge. In our opinion, they each rose to the occasion.

Vasiliy Guryanov - Runner-Up (and the 2009 winner) with a time of 12:31.4
Jeff Wiedeman - Third place with a time of 14:56.6

Other participants were:
Sean Teeter, Martin Anand, Adam Hunter, Mark Tarentino, David Kurvink.

Prince & Tim Strawn of GrandSlamStringers.com sponsored the event.

  • Who tied just one knot? All racquets were inspected by Dave Bone (USRSA) and the winner definitely tied off correctly. What are you talking about?

  • Yes we didn't want to complicate things by using non-traditional grommets so we changed out the B/G sets.

  • you can win or lose it early on, keep in mind that uncoiling can be critical.

  • Oh man - 18x20? This is why everybody picks the OG for certification!

  • how can you win if you only tie just one knot!!!!

  • 2 days ago I did my rebel in 13:54 sec friend timed me no video but will challenge any time. I did it with prince exp hybrid Email me back for a challenge oh ya I'm 16 lol

  • take me about 20 minutes

  • I see you all put the grommet strips in so you didn't have to deal with the big O-Ports:D.

  • This is definitely amazing, i'm 5 minutes behind all of these guys at best and thats without mounting the racquet. Glad to see that Tim strawn and Dave Bone were nice enough to let the prince stringing team come up this year, i'm sure they stood up to the test.

  • @stringwalla which stringer were you?
