When I started out to build muscle mass many years ago, I was taught that the more I exercised, the more muscle mass I would gain. More sets, more reps and heavier weights equals more muscle mass.
After experimenting with some new muscle training advice and some new insights into over-training, I'm spending less time exercising and doing fewer sets. I'm also gaining more muscle mass than when I exercised twice as much and experiencing much less delayed onset muscle soreness.
