The Single-chip Cloud Computer (SCC) is a specialized Intel Architecture compliant many-core research processor intended to enable Intel as well as academic and industry partners to explore new programming models and application development for future many-core CPUs. Co-developed by Intel Labs Braunschweig, it contains 48 IA cores connected via a high-speed on-die network, 4 integrated DDR3 memory controllers which provide up to 64 GB of memory and includes software controlled power management techniques which allow the chip to operate with very high energy efficiency. We demonstrate a workload application that shows the advanced power management capabilities and a parallel application that uses a standard MPI as the communication layer.
