Part 2 of 2
In the summer of 1990 Sea Shepherd Conservation Society tracks down, confronts and disables a Japanese drift netting operation 1400 miles due north of Hawaii.
The Japanese government was invited to press charges against Sea Shepherd for ramming and destroying drift netting machinery on two of the three Japanese vessels. No charges were ever laid. In fact, the Japanese government denied they even had a drift netting operation and denied this incident ever took place.
This incredible footage proves otherwise.
Sea Shepherd is not a protest organization. It was established in 1977 to intervene against the illegal exploitation of marine life in accordance with the principles of the United Nations World Charter for Nature.
"We have never injured a single person in our 31 year history," said Captain Watson, "and we intend to keep that record unblemished."

Isn't drift netting illegal? Good thing they'll be there to stop illegal actions like these

I support sea shepherd but why did they sink the drift net? wouldn't it be safer to pull it out?

Are the camera men on the sea shepard professionals, or have any schooling in film. Or is it just a beginner with a camera who goes there to film

Well then why don't you volunteer your time, and help them out, since you're such an expert and are so worried and think you can do better. Show them how it's done. =)

what? the film crew is a film crew, they don't make up the ships crew. they are merely passengers, about 7-9 of them. Animal planet will protray what they got to what they want to acheieve. They are a film industry. Your not making sense now, what I got out of your last message you think the whole crew is animal planet?

I never thought that speaking my mind on a youtube site that was dedicated to a bunch of people with an unpopular viewpoint doing the same, would change any minds. I hope that whaling ends, but I hope more that no impressionable kids get led to their deaths because they put faith in ships officers that are demonstrating a lack of Proficiency in some pretty basic seamanship tasks, not to mention colliding with 10,000tonners.
