A short cabin burn from the TV movie Broken Trail done by Bleeding Art Industries Inc. This effect took two days to set up and about three hours to shoot. This set is all plumbed with propane and steel inserts around the burn areas. There were not even scorch marks from the burns and the fire went out instantly on the call. This was our first major effects sequence in the shooting of this movie and the director, Walter Hill, wanted it big. Walter and I had not worked together before, so when I went off and "tested" the effect (which meant I was testing the pilot lights for final ignition) I came back to a lot of worried faces at camera; and the talk of CG flames. I didnt quite understand what was going on. When we called up the effect for roll camera and the big flames rolled out, there was alot of surprise and ultimately happy faces. You could feel the heat from 40 feet away. For the record, we shot this in three takes, each lasted three minutes and consumed approximately 300 pounds of propane gas.
Nice job. This is my all time favorite movie and I'm glad you so positively contributed to it.
