What is dictating radio today is the blocks of music major labels are sending out on a quarterly basis and telling the stations this is what we want played. Of course the station has the power to dictate what they want to play but if they don't comply then chances are they will loose any good ties they have with that label. They can loose a lot of giveaway prizes like gift cards, television, trips, concert tickets, etc... Smaller labels tend to get screwed because they cant compete.

Oh I agree. It's a policy issue. Fees are VERY high (why is this? there is no big complex infrastructure for free airwaves) & they have to offset thier costs somewhere.

No begging for money like suckydicky Minnesota Public Radio, which is a scam and is taxpayer subsidized, without taxpayer consent, by the State of Minnesota. Boycott them. Classical Music America just has a little donation box. No whinny, fruity voiced announcers. NO Gary Keillor.

@briansredd Hey brian, I agree about radio. Ever sence I got the new Droid X I have been loving the fact that I can stream right from pandora . Ive got like 20 stations custom made for my likes and have never looked back to the FM dial again. In my car , up in the white mountians of NH ,where only one station sort of comes in and if I'm in the mood for a certian song I just pop onto U-tube instead and bang out anything I want. You should so get a droid. I hated FM and am now am free@ last .Ron

You make me feel old. I remember when KLOR was the FM country station in Wichita Falls back when almost NO FMs would touch country.
