how is this mandolin in your opinion? better than the eastwood or kentucky km-300e?
ThisSideParadise 2 months ago
@ThisSideParadise It is made by SAGA who also make the km-300e. I really like playing this particular model but the km-300e sound great as well. Haven't tried the eastwood emandos. I play it through a blues junior which gives it a very round and warm quality.

what scale primarily for the runs?

@ThisSideParadise Overall I was thinking more about musical phrases with interesting rhythm and harmonic qualities and just seeing where I could go with the song in the moment. That being said though I tend to use more of a melodic minor sound over the two minor chords (Am and Dm) and an altered sound over the E7 (emphasizing the b9, +9, b13, etc.) Hope that helps!

This is one of my favourite videos on Youtube! Your jazz language on the mandolin is superb...this improvise is 5 stars! Congrats and do some more videos playing the Emando, please.

@mmdeva Busy working on a cd which will include both fiddle mando. By the way, the John Jorgenson Quintet (where Jason plays fiddle) may be doing a South American tour later this year.
