It's amazing how many people that haven't any idea what they're talking about post on this site.
No one would use old Nimh batteries in any EV toady, and the range of a vehicle depends on the energy of the pack. The EV-1's 100 mile range took enough nimh batteries to fill the entire car and weighed a ton.
No the same pack today would not have a 200mi range it would have a 100 mile range as nimh is nimh.
GM bought the NiHM battery pattent for the purpose of scrapping it (and the EV1) by selling it to Texaco/Chevron, now Chevron has strangulated that technology with litigation including suing Toyota (which had even better NiHM batteries). As far as I am concerned GM (and Ford) cant go bankrupt soon enough. NiHM had a 100+ mile range a decade ago and would have a 200 mile range by now. Ethanol and Hydrogen are red herrings pushed by Big Oil shills
