I would highly recommend this duet opera to anyone :D The lady's singing is sooooooo sweet; the type that's so pleasing to my eyes. And the male singer: when I closed my eyes, I actually thought that it's a lady singing! I think he's so talented becox he could sing it both ways (i.e. male or female)... not an easy feat to accomplish. nice clip, thanks for uploading! (^,^)
thanks my friend for your nice comment!yes i totally agree with you the lady has a very sweet voice.she left the stage for many years but recently she comes back. for male actor, to tell the truth i seldom like male's way of singing in yueju opera, it's too womenly sounded not like a man's, a bit terrible.
U're most welcome! :) But I had the idea that during the ancient times, the opera artistes were mostly men - is it true? I jux realised that for all the opera clips, all the singers R women! (I've got slow reflexes :P)
yes in ancient times women wer not allowd to perform on stage. so men would play the female's roles and sang with a falsetto(such as beijing opera).for yueju most are palyed by women maybe cuz of the soft sounding music and performance, and people prefer to see more good-looking women than men on stage.
thanks for filling me in on what I didn't know :) In fact, I also prefer Yueju as compared to beijing opera. Sometimes it jux feels strange to see men taking on female roles :P
