Jolene Ruiz is 12 yrs old from Indio, Ca. and pitches up in the 14 & Under division. She has been pitching for three years and loves softball. Her pitching coach is Ruth Ramos Herrera from Indio - Coach Ruth was a Indio High School Elite pitcher back in the 1980's. Jolene's goal is to pitch in High school, college & in the National Pro Womens League. At age 11, Jolene led her team to the 2007 PONY Nationals in Austin, Texas.

Jolene's biggest talent is that she has "Ice in her veins" and strikes out batters under pressure. She is learning daily and most importantly to her parents...She is having fun!

At this time, Jolene's pitches are a Fastball, Rise, Change-up & a Peel Drop ball. Most importantly than all of those is she has tremendous control.

Jolene's best softball memory! Meeting & taking a photo with USA Olympic Softball pitcher Jennie Finch in 2008! Jennie signed her poster that says "Jolene - Dream & Believe!"

Jolene's welcomes all comments.

  • Thank all of you for your positive & constructive comments. Everyone else with Negative things to say.....sorry life has been bad to you & may God help you...cause when you cause other pain for your satisfaction....what goes around..comes around :)

  • i think most 14U kids r throwing anywhere from 48-55 and once in awhile theres an excption but its unusual...my daughter is 15 and her fastball is around 55-58 mph...which is nt that fast but her location and her spin is incredible...girls cant hit her and if they do most of the time they dont get it out of the infield....ppl need to start teaching kids more about control and speed and quit worrying about 12 diff pitches and how fast a kid throws...faster the pitch the further it flies

  • I totally agree. Many girls in our league throw heat but are all over the place and complaining of pain in the back, shoulder and arm. My daughter Jolene is not fast at all, but is tough to hit off of. We work on rotation and location...thats are favorite saying. Most important - her arm does not hurt. Progression-will allow her arm to get stronger and hopefully keep her in the game longer in the years to come.

  • JRuiz you sound very smart and i wish the very best to you and your daughter dont stray from the basics even when other dads are "exagerating" how many pitches their dghtrs have at 12 and throw like 90 mph...alot of times they see whats nt there unfortunately and it ends up ruining the kid cuz they feel they have to live up to all the hype that dad has built up about them....michelle smith said she didnt even learn to throw a dropball til right before her 1st olympics...???...wow!

  • Thk you. The same to you & ur daughter. I refuse to buy a radar gun. I look at it this way. Teens love the need for speed and their arm is like cars that want to be "Fast & the Furious"...until they blow a gasket and their arm hurts. The sportscar is now a Pinto. Listen to your body...pain is your first clue you must stretch more, correct ur mechanics or simply REST!

  • i love u jolene and ill never 4get about u manuel.<3

  • I played with Ruth Ramos as well as her sister Rachel Ramos at Indio High and in summer league. Ruth was an awesome pitcher. I caught for her too. Her pitches included a riser, fast ball, curve ball, drop ball, and off speed. You are fortunate to have Ruth as your coach.
