@sparklefrost I just think, having to listened to both versions, that Keith Christmas's is paced too quickly to allow the implications of the lyrics to sink in. It's a good song, he certainly deserves credit for writing it. I prefer Shelagh McDonald's interpretation - YMMV. But KC wouldn't be the first songwriter to be trumped by a better interpretation: think Hendrix's version of Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower" for example.
Well, hang on there fella, Shelagh is brilliant but Keith Xmas is something else. He wrote this fucker after all, and his version - in my opinion - stands up to scrutiny. Be fair...
