that's why he knows what's the function of the program.
if you know what each knob does (at least theorically) everything is simpler that discovering by your own what the knobs do basing on the effect you hear (that might not be hearable). and when effects dont happen instantly, you may not understand what the knob does.

and that happened to me, it took me like 4 months to fully understand what it does and when use it.
