Senso is an example of digital evolution using the most familiar form of art, painting. We worked mainly on two different topics: dynamic representation and the involvement of the environment into the composition of the scene. The paint, formerly fixed on the canvas, becomes in Senso a persisting flow of colours and forms, randomly decaying and reorganising, generating endless combinations. The ambience around the painting takes part in the composition. An electronic eye looks at the surrounding environment, records, deforms and moves it: the perpetual flow of colours and graphic elements blend with the representation of the immediate space, which becomes a constantly evolving background landscape. Certain graphic elements appear in the composition subsequent to sound variations. If the sound is continuous, the movement of the electronic eye accelerates. In Senso the classical shape of the painting is maintained: first we see a familiar object, then discover that it is interactive, sensitive, and that it invites us to play with it.
