Davy Jones dances to "Daddy's Song."

The woman Jones dances with is Toni Basil of the "Mickey" fame. Basil choreographed this and other dance sequences in Head (1968; dir. Bob Rafelson).

This video was excerpted from the Criterion Collection's 2010 Blu-ray remaster release of BBS Production films entitled "America Lost and Found: The BBS Story."

  • That is a tremendous video. 1968?! Think of the hours of manual editing needed...without computers! Toni Basil?!?!?! Back then...I though she was much younger when "Mickey" hit the charts!

  • Tony Basil..... and Davy Jones...... so cool...

  • @Mach5Motorsport She's also in the movies "Five Easy Pieces" and "Easy Rider." Major supporting roles in both.

  • @Mach5Motorsport Actor, too. She has major supporting roles in both "Easy Rider" and "Five Easy Pieces."

  • Considering that the Toni Basil "Mikey" video hit in the US in 1982.....she would be much older than the other Pop-Music artists of the day..pretending to be a HS cheerleader even! Ok, she's about like Cindi Lauper, but that's a rare group! :p I had no idea that she was a choreographer in the late 60s. timeless talent.

  • @Mach5Motorsport Curiously enough "Micky" was about a crush Toni Basil had on Micky Dolenz while working on this film. She was only a couple years older than them in 1968.

Had it been Davy, she may not have had such a big hit in 1981 (:

  • @Mach5Motorsport She would only have been 25 when this was made. Just two years older than Davy. And 1981 was a long time ago. So she was not so old (:

  • Oh my poor poor Davy, the highlight of last summer whence I discovered you. Though I'd only known you a summer, you shall be missed by myself and all Monkees fans young, and old. RIP My lovely

  • You will be missed, Davy. Thanks for the memories.

  • You can really see the Toni Basil influence in the choreography. Davy sure had some serious talent, What a singer, and what a dancer!

  • Aww lovely, great memories RIP Davy xxx
