Well - today the architect of Fukushima 3 said that they might have a China syndrome on their hands, with nuclear fission resuming in the soil. Bet this movie gets a lot of views in the coming weeks when word gets out.

As I recall, the safety of power reactors was scarcely on anyone's mind prior to that. If anything we were much more worried about Brezhnev, the cold war and all the hydrogen bombs the USSR had pointed at us. Peaceful nuclear energy was propagandized as the friendly counterpoint to the big bad bomb, and right up to Harrisburg we believed it.

This movie came out right around the time of the Three Mile Island incident, playing on the fears of peoples' fears of what they didin't understand.
