  • the largest collection of bad technique I've seen to date.

  • Great effort.

But what disturbs me, is well..yeah, the technique. And the fact that someone snatches a hang snatch for five reps.

Not dissing, but try remembering a few things.

-Chest up, upper back tight...but lats relaxed

-Start a small pull, then jump upwards (sorta...)

    -Catch tight.

Might make the snatches less difficult too.

  • I saw about 2 or 3 people in this video with decent form, besides that it looks like an injury waiting to happen

  • why dont you teach them how to do it before you let them do it. they have horrible technique

  • 1:51 lower the weight for christs sake.

This is what I am talking about when saying Crossfit just pulls things out of their asses. She has no business trying to handle that weight and less business doing a bi-lateral squat, ESPECIALLY with the bar above her head.

    Totally stupid.

    Crossfail.

  • @kirksman continued.............. 2) Doing that gives the brain way too many things to process and can ruin a lift. If the person understands the lift and can do it with near perfect technique, shut up and let them do it. As a rule here, give that person ONE thing to process per set, like I said, if you have chosen the right lift and they understand it enough to perform it with near perfect technique there is no reason to keep fixing this and that and this and that and this and that.

  • @kirksman Relax is never a cue to use when training, it's equivalent to stretching someone for 30 minutes and doing high 1RM lifts, it's wrong.

That command is up there with:

    1) touching or holding someone during a lift, the strongest sense you have is the sense of touch, the minute you touch someone for any long period of time the brain will key on that touch and will take away from the lift itself.

and 2) CONSTANTLY talking and giving someone multiple commands.

  • @kirksman It isn't a jump, that is correct. Anytime you are doing a HIGH percentage of your 1RM for this lift, lets say 85% and up, you have to generate a-lot of force to be able to get the bar high enough to get underneath it.

Therefore the movement is involuntary I.E. you don't tell yourself "let me JUMP here," it's automatic and is normally taught when teaching someone the Cuban press which is the pre-cursor to the ending part of the Snatch.

  • @mrceebees14 U know Coach Burgener's advice of "jumping" for the extension? Well in our Chinese texts for weightlifting, that's wrong. We say "Pop" or "Den Dhui" in Mandarin. But does it work generally to teach people the extension? Yes. As long the cue is understood by the lifter, nobody can say it's retarded or not. And try pushing your shoulders down. Ur lats relax . But 2 put in position, there's 1 more cue.

  • @kirksman How do you relax your lats? I hope to hell you do not vocally tell someone to "relax" while they are lifting, that is a retarded command.

  • Crossfit got me some clients.

One's that recovered from the injuries they suffered doing this crap because Crossfit assigns insane amounts of weight and a total disregard for rep range.

These idiots have people doing 2 foot box jumps and follow it up with a Snatch and "kipping" or what I call a "crapping" pull-up. No more then 75% hip flexors swinging the body up and then asking the shoulder to stop the motion which results in tearing the shit out of the labrum.

    Crossfit is crap.

  • How can these people expect to learn when they're being instructed by incompetent teachers?
